Welcome to the
glorious sun kissed
Cote D’Azur!
WHAT TO EXPECT
This beautiful coast, with its remarkable light, unequalled anywhere else, can be easily explored.
Saint-Raphaël is a highly-prized vacation destination, beautifully situated at the foot of the Estérel mountains. It is a very diverse city, the old town, the ports, Valescure, Boulouris, Le Dramont, Agay. The area has attracted artists, such as Renoir, Picasso, Matisse, for the exquisite light, as well as many writers, Somerset Maugham, Scott Fitzgerald, and Ernest Hemingway
But its biggest attraction is the sea and its beaches. Saint-Raphaël stretches over 36 kilometres of coast from the town centre to the edge of the Alpes-Maritimes, and offers you thirty sand or shingle beaches, and all the pleasures, and pastimes that go with it. Aquatic activities such as sailing, swimming, fishing, diving, jet skiing, as well as glorious walks by the shoreline. The routes for mountain biking, and walking are endless.
Your accomodation is an eight minute stroll through Boulouris, to the sea, or three minutes by car.
WHERE TO GO
The small villages, and towns of Provence are enchanting, where you can find a wide variety of local foods and artisanal products . The glamorous beach resort of Saint Tropez has a good market on Tuesdays and Saturdays and can be reached by ferry, or bus. Sanary-sur Mer, not far from us, has been voted one of the top markets in France.
In our own village Jean-Pierre Béroard’s love of Provence is shown in his superb aquarelle paintings. Visit his shop when you explore our village.
L’Etoile restaurant. One of our three recommended restaurants right on the sea, with wonderful views, super food and friendly staff. Tel: 04 94 83 10 44.
Urban Beach. Another beach side restaurant, with welcoming staff, a wide ranging menu and superb views of the sea. Tel: 0890 212 904.
Our favourite restaurant, sitting right on the beach, is L’Epuisette. It is completely open to the sea, and serves excellent food, supported by friendly, helpful staff. Sun loungers can be hired for the half or full day. Tel: 06 2485 3727.
The city of Nice must be seen, where the old Moorish quarter is a revelation which many tourists are completely unaware of.
Antibes, close by, is a haven for local artists, supported by a thriving local community, and Cannes, famous, of course, for its film festival.
What to do
There are many beaches where you feel you have the place to yourself, and virtually any form of water sports can be enjoyed. Our local diving centre will suit beginners, snorkelers, as well as experienced divers.
I regularly take my traditional sailing boat out to explore the coast, and enjoy the sunsets. Hiking along the seashore, or in the mountains offers unequalled views, perfect for camera buffs, as well as 100 kms of marked mountain bike trails.
When
You will enjoy beautiful weather here, even in The Winter. You can enjoy breakfast on your terrace in January, February and March.
Spring, in April and May, (18-25c) can be a magical time. The perfect temperatures for any activity.
The house lies away from the road, where you can enjoy your own quiet space, surrounded by trees. We offer a bed and breakfast service, as lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in many local restaurants that we are happy to recommend.
Your two bedrooms, and bathroom, on the first floor overlooks our garden, as well as your private veranda, which is light and airy, with comfortable furniture, remaining pleasantly cool in Summer.
